About the Event

A second performance from this season’s Rachmaninoff cycle featuring Dmitry Masleev.

Since wining First Prize in the Tchaikovsky competition in 2015, the Russian pianist’s small number of appearances on French stages have met with wholehearted praise and support. This was the case with his astounding Concerto No. 1 by Tchaikovsky with the Orchestre National de France and his latest recitals at La Roque‐d’Anthéron, at the Philharmonie de Paris, and here too. This season, he has set himself the challenge of playing the complete Rachmaninoff across three recitals. For this second concert, he has chosen to set Rachmaninoff in counterpoint to Mussorgsky. He is not playing Pictures at an Exhibition but preludes, and the Etudes‐tableaux which are rarely heard in concert.
