Recorded music

For this visit to Paris, the company will present a ballet by Sharon Eyal and Mats Ek’s version of The Rite of Spring. With House, Sharon Eyal brings the world of ballet face to face with the club dance style in a love letter to the intersection of dance and techno. Mats Ek premiered his first version of The Rite of Spring in 1984, but his creative relationship with Stravinsky’s score was not fully resolved. Almost thirty years later, he went back to the drawing board, at the invitation of the English National Ballet, to present a new version which audiences can discover in Paris in early 2027. The great Swedish choreographer brings all his artistry to bear in this acerbic criticism of forced marriage – an updated version of the tribal sacrifice – in a world coloured by a Japanese aesthetic. It offers a profound and unusual vision of one of the most choreographed ballet scores in the world since its premier in 1913.
