Andreas Scholl & Les Accents: Salle Gaveau
Paris, Salle Gaveau — Main Hall
About the Event
During his time as cantor in Leipzig, Bach directed the music at St. Thomas and St. Nicholas churches and had to compose at a breakneck pace. His vast body of cantatas highlights his genius for polyphonic composition and the art of counterpoint. Although rarer, his works for solo voice are no less dazzling, particularly those written for alto. They often evoke the dramatic intensity of the passages the composer entrusted to this vocal range in the Passions.
Thibault Noally, who leads Les Accents from his violin with universally acclaimed talent, immerses us in this fascinating world. He provides the perfect setting for Andreas Scholl’s pure, rounded voice. Particularly acclaimed for his interpretations of Bach’s music, the star German countertenor always performs with astonishing naturalness and sublime inner depth. A great evening lies ahead.
