Amandine Beyer & Pierre Hantaï: Salle Cortot
Paris, Salle Cortot — Main Hall
About the Event
Just as much as vocal music, the instrumental repertoire experienced a meteoric rise in the 17th and 18th centuries, driven by extraordinary virtuosos who were also outstanding composers. The importance of Arcangelo Corelli—legendary violinist and father of the sonata—cannot be overstated. A generation later, Antonio Vivaldi composed works of devilish difficulty yet possessing an irresistible melodic and rhythmic charm. Another genius—arguably the greatest of all—acknowledged this Italian supremacy while elevating it to new heights with his incomparable style: Johann Sebastian Bach.
Two immense musicians bring this essential chapter of music history back to life: Amandine Beyer, a violinist acclaimed worldwide for the beauty of her tone and her never‐showoffy virtuosity, reunites with her longtime collaborator, Pierre Hantaï, unquestionably one of the great masters of the harpsichord.
