Alexander Malofeev: Piano at Salle Gaveau
Paris, Salle Gaveau — Main Hall
About the Event
In addition to his extraordinary technical abilities—which opened the doors to major international stages for him at a very early age—Alexander Malofeev has demonstrated remarkable artistic maturity from the very beginning of his career. Spanning four centuries of music, he charts a path here where listening becomes a sensory experience. Opening with an unmeasured prelude by Louis Couperin—a space of freedom—the program reveals a mosaic of inner landscapes. In Sergei Prokofiev’s works, a few miniatures sketch fleeting impressions, notably the “Promenade,” Op. 65, No. 2, which transports us to a sun‐drenched landscape where, a little later, the imaginary song of François Couperin’s “Nightingale in Love” will resound. The tranquility of delicately poetic pieces, such as Tchaikovsky’s “Rêverie,” is counterbalanced by the energy of a few more spirited works, such as William Bolcom’s “Rag infernal,” which sets the stage for Liszt’s “Mephisto Waltz,” the program’s finale.
