This extraordinary portrait of a woman in love who is rendered impotent by her passion is one of the most beautiful and moving roles in the composer’s repertoire. Handel draws on the subtle art of twists and turns and boundless melodic invention. Kathryn Lewek will be surrounded by a fine team of seasoned performers of this repertoire, and Philippe Jaroussky, who has many performances as Ruggiero to his credit, will be at the rostrum on this occasion.
