Sir András Schiff: Théâtre des Champs‐Elysées
Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées — Main Hall
About the Event
Hungarian pianist András Schiff is one of the most influential musicians of his generation, and rightly so! He was taught by the best, and while studying piano, his teacher, the great Hungarian composer György Kurtág, insisted that he “sing the music.” He still maintains that this method was responsible for his greatest progress, so it is no surprise that he is also a remarkable accompanist of lieder. He has devoted his life to the “great classics” and has a special relationship, both at the keyboard and at the lectern, with the works and worlds of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, and Schubert. Tonight's program combines Haydn's elegant classicism, Mozart's joyful spirit, and Schubert's power.
