Sunwook Kim: Théâtre des Champs‐Elysées
Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées — Main Hall
About the Event
A new dream program concocted by Sunwook Kim, winner of the Leeds Competition and a regular explorer of the greatest works for keyboard. His elegance and natural authority are sure to delight once again this evening. Haydn's Sonata No. 59 is the quintessential embodiment of the composer's unique style of sonata, happily combining cheerfulness and seriousness. Schumann's Opus 6 long concealed its true romantic inspiration under a false dedication. It is one of the composer's most daring and modern works, characterized by incredibly luminous harmonies. Finally, to conclude the evening, Schubert's last sonata, his “swan song” in the instrumental realm. Here, the musician seems to have brought together all his subtlety in the full diversity of the range of nuances.
