Broadway Theatre
New York, USA
The Broadway Theater is that rare thing in New York’s Theater District – a Broadway theater that sits on the Great White Way itself! Opened in 1924, this large‐capacity theater initially hosted vaudeville and cinema shows, notably premiering the first Mickey Mouse cartoon, and Walt Disney’s ‘Fantasia’. In the 1930s, legitimate theater took over, and a series of successful plays and musicals began. Legendary figures such as Mae West, Vivien Leigh, Alfred Drake, Patti LuPone and Zero Mostel have all appeared at the Broadway, and the theater housed the original Broadway production of ‘Les Misèrables’.
