Schubert / Blacher / Haydn / Blacher: Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano
Milan, Auditorium di Milano Fondazione Cariplo — main
About the Event
Kolja Blacher’s return to Milan’s Auditorium feels like a heartfelt reunion. The esteemed musician once led the Chamber Orchestra on profound explorations of diverse musical periods alongside audiences. His comeback shines a spotlight on Schubert’s Fourth and Haydn’s Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra, marking a reunion with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano's 23‐year‐old principal trumpet, Alessandro Rosi, as the featured soloist. Adding a unique layer to the program, Blacher presents a work by his father, Boris—Variations on a Theme by Paganini—a masterpiece that earned Boris acclaim in 1947 as Germany started to rebuild its cultural identity.
Program
- Franz Schubert – Symphony No. 4 in C minor, D. 417, 'Tragic'
- Joseph Haydn – Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra in E flat major Hob VIIe:1
- Boris Blacher – Variazioni su un tema di Paganini per orchestra
