Rossini / Liszt / Berlioz / Tjeknavorian: Orchestra Sinfonica Di Milano
Milan, Auditorium di Milano Fondazione Cariplo — main
About the Event
'Shaken, not stirred.' With these iconic words, James Bond baptizes the Martini Cocktail—a timeless elixir. Together, its elements create a harmonious blend that evokes tranquility in its sippers. The gin forms the 'body' of the drink, reminiscent of Liszt's Second Concerto for Piano and Orchestra. The vermouth, akin to a Rossini overture like Semiramide, establishes the base with its aromatic presence. A lemon peel adds the youthful freshness found in performers such as Kiron Atom Tellian on piano and Emmanuel Tjeknavorian at the podium—a zesty, invigorating note. Finally, the indispensable olive, grounding like Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, ties it all together. This piece remains significant for the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, having been the inaugural symphony they performed in 1993.
Program
- Gioachino Rossini – Semiramide Symphony
- Franz Liszt – Concerto No. 2 in A Major for piano and orchestra
- Hector Berlioz – Symphonie fantastique op. 14
