About the Event

Finding a 24‐year‐old first trumpet in a prestigious symphony orchestra isn't an everyday occurrence. Yet, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano boasts Alessandro Rosi in this coveted position. Rosi, who graduated with honors from the Conservatory at just 15, now holds the first trumpet chair, admired for his remarkable sound and expressiveness. This marks Rosi’s debut as a soloist, performing Haydn’s Concerto for trumpet and orchestra. Accompanying him is the gifted young conductor Julius Zeman, making his return to lead Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano in a program that whisks us away to the elegance and delight of Haydn, Schubert, and Mozart's Vienna.

Program

  • Franz Schubert – Symphony No. 4 in C minor, D. 417, 'Tragic'
  • Joseph Haydn – Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra in E flat major Hob VIIe:1
  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Symphony No. 25 in G minor, K183
Program is subject to change

Artists

Orchestra: Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi

Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements.
