Ein Deutsches Requiem — Brahms: Orchestra Sinfonica Di Milano
Milan, Auditorium di Milano Fondazione Cariplo — main
About the Event
A Requiem, not in the traditional liturgical sense, but rather a commemorative work. Created during an extended period from 1854 to 1868, Ein deutsches Requiem is part of Brahms's early artistic development. The concept for this monumental piece for soprano, baritone, choir, and orchestra originated with the passing of his friend Robert Schumann in 1856 and was further realized around 1865 following his mother's death. First performed on Good Friday in 1868, it now provides a contemplative backdrop to Easter celebrations, offering a moment of introspection through music of extraordinary skill, with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano and Coro Sinfonico under the baton of Music Director Emmanuel Tjeknavorian.
