Berio/ Ravel /Respighi /Ceretta: Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano
Milan, Auditorium di Milano Fondazione Cariplo — main
About the Event
The Orchestra Sinfonica di Miano honors the profound creativity of a 20th‐century luminary: Luciano Berio, who served as Honorary Conductor of LaVerdi between 2000 and 2003. The Milan Symphony Orchestra unveils the inaugural concert of Compass, a recital crafted for piano and orchestra (1994), which beautifully melds music and architecture. This is the perfect celebration for Berio's centennial, featuring a 'Florentine' ensemble of exceptional musicians: Andrea Lucchesini on piano and Diego Ceretta conducting. Together with the Orchestra, they deliver a program that seamlessly integrates Ravel's Valses nobles et sentimentales and Respighi's Fontane di Roma.

Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world.
