Auditorium di Milano: Schubert / Mozart / Zeman
Milan, Auditorium di Milano Fondazione Cariplo — main
About the Event
Bringing together two masterpieces of the Austrian repertoire, this program explores profound emotional and spiritual themes through the music of Franz Schubert and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The evening opens with Schubert’s *Symphony No. 8 in B minor*, D. 759, the celebrated *“Unfinished” Symphony*. Renowned for its lyrical beauty and expressive depth, the work remains one of the most compelling achievements of early Romanticism, balancing tenderness, mystery, and dramatic intensity.
The program continues with Mozart’s *Requiem in D minor*, K. 626, for soloists, choir, and orchestra. Left unfinished at the composer’s death, this extraordinary work has long captivated audiences with its combination of solemn grandeur, emotional immediacy, and profound humanity. From moments of quiet reflection to passages of overwhelming power, the *Requiem* stands among the most iconic sacred compositions in Western music.
Conducted by Julius Zeman, the concert brings together two works that, in different ways, confront themes of loss, transcendence, and the enduring power of musical expression.
