About the Event
Pairing two celebrated masterpieces of the repertoire, this program explores the orchestra’s ability to unite intimate musical dialogue with vivid symphonic storytelling.
Ludwig van Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in C major, Op. 56, brings together violin, cello, and piano in a work of remarkable balance and elegance. Combining the intimacy of chamber music with the scale of the concerto tradition, it unfolds through a rich exchange between the three soloists and the orchestra, revealing Beethoven’s gift for lyricism, vitality, and expressive contrast.
The second half is devoted to Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in Maurice Ravel’s celebrated orchestration. Inspired by a series of paintings, the work transforms a gallery visit into a brilliantly imaginative musical journey, moving through scenes of grandeur, mystery, humor, and spectacle. Ravel’s masterful orchestration enhances every detail, creating one of the most colorful and compelling works in the symphonic repertoire.
Conducted by Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, the program brings together two distinctive musical worlds, showcasing the orchestra’s versatility through works of exceptional inventiveness and enduring appeal.
