Auditorium di Milano: Beethoven / Brahms / Tjeknavorian
Milan, Auditorium di Milano Fondazione Cariplo — main
About the Event
Bringing together two masterpieces of the nineteenth‐century repertoire, this program explores the dramatic intensity and expressive richness that connect the musical worlds of Johannes Brahms and Ludwig van Beethoven.
The evening opens with Brahms’s *Symphony No. 1 in C minor*, Op. 68, a work of remarkable scope and emotional depth. After years of painstaking work, Brahms produced a symphony that combines powerful dramatic tension with lyrical warmth, culminating in one of the most celebrated finales in the symphonic repertoire.
The program continues with Beethoven’s *Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor*, Op. 37, a work that balances virtuosity and poetic expression with extraordinary skill. Its darkly dramatic character, expansive lyricism, and dynamic interplay between soloist and orchestra make it one of the composer’s most compelling concertos.
Conducted by Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, the concert places two landmark works side by side, revealing the enduring influence of Beethoven’s musical legacy and Brahms’s distinctive contribution to the symphonic tradition.
