About the Event
Bringing together Beethoven, Schumann, and Brahms, this program explores three distinctive perspectives on the German musical tradition, from dramatic theatrical expression to symphonic grandeur and intimate lyricism.
The evening opens with Beethoven’s *Leonore Overture No. 2*, Op. 72a, a work that captures the dramatic tension and emotional intensity of *Fidelio*, revealing the composer’s remarkable ability to combine symphonic scope with operatic storytelling.
Schumann’s *Symphony No. 2 in C major*, Op. 61, follows, charting a compelling journey from struggle and uncertainty to confidence and affirmation. Rich in invention and expressive depth, the symphony stands among the composer’s most personal and powerful orchestral achievements.
The program also features Brahms’s *Clarinet Sonata No. 1 in F minor*, Op. 120, presented in Luciano Berio’s orchestration. By expanding the work’s original chamber dimensions, Berio offers a fresh perspective on Brahms’s late masterpiece while preserving its warmth, introspection, and lyrical beauty.
Conducted by Lucas Macías Navarro, the concert highlights the richness and diversity of the nineteenth‐century repertoire, bringing together works of dramatic power, emotional depth, and enduring musical imagination.
