About the Event
Bringing together two landmarks of the orchestral repertoire, this program explores the enduring power of the symphony through the contrasting musical worlds of Ludwig van Beethoven and Béla Bartók.
Beethoven’s *Symphony No. 5 in C minor*, Op. 67, remains one of the most iconic works in classical music. From its instantly recognizable opening motif to its triumphant conclusion, the symphony unfolds with extraordinary dramatic intensity, energy, and structural brilliance.
The program continues with Bartók’s *Concerto for Orchestra*, Sz. 116, BB 123, a twentieth‐century masterpiece celebrated for its inventiveness, rhythmic vitality, and remarkable orchestral color. Conceived as a showcase for the entire ensemble, the work highlights the distinctive character and virtuosity of each section of the orchestra.
Conducted by Alessandro Ceretta, the concert places two visionary composers side by side, revealing how each transformed the symphonic tradition through a unique and unmistakable musical language.
