About the Event
An evening at Madrid’s Teatro Real opens a portal to Wagner’s realm of myth, longing, and redemption.
Stage director David Hermann relocates Wagner’s *Tannhäuser* to a futuristic, post‐apocalyptic science‐fiction world. Echoes of *Blade Runner*, *Metropolis*, and even *Dune* blend with Wagnerian lyricism in this great opera’s return to the Teatro Real after 18 years. Clay Hilley and Andreas Schager share the title role, alongside Ludovic Tézier, Andrè Schuen, Malin Byström, Elisabeth Teige, Ausrine Stundyte, Irene Roberts, and Georg Zeppenfeld, among other artists, under Gustavo Gimeno’s baton.
