Madrid’s Teatro Real welcomes one of the world’s most acclaimed contemporary dance companies for an evening of movement, music, and unforgettable storytelling.
Founded in New York in 1958, during the civil rights movement, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is now a globally renowned cultural institution, named a Cultural Ambassador to the World by the United States Congress in 2008. Its choreographic language, blending modern dance, ballet, jazz, and African and Caribbean traditions, creates lyrical, athletic expression without borders, while remaining deeply rooted in the African American experience. Across two programmes—the first shaped by iconic works from its founder, the second featuring recent creations by Medhi Walerski, Judith Jamison, Lar Lubovitch, and Jamar Roberts—the company celebrates the beauty and resilience of the human spirit.
