Simon Crawford‐Phillips and Friends: Bach/Kurtág and Schubert
London, LSO St Luke's
About the Event
Immerse yourself in an unforgettable evening with Simon Crawford‐Phillips and Friends at the breathtaking LSO St Luke's.
Delight in Schubert's humor and splendor alongside the intimate beauty of Kurtág’s Bach arrangements, celebrating the joy of the piano duet.
The Music
In 1947, Kurtág found his ‘soulmate’ in pianist Márta Kinska, sharing both life and the keyboard, performing together into their nineties. Kurtág’s evocative Bach arrangements mirror their deep connection.
Schubert wrote as much for piano duet as for solo. His A‐flat Variations embody elegant wit, while his posthumously published Fantasie in F minor ranks among his most critical works.
The Performers
Piano duo Simon Crawford‐Phillips and Philip Moore started their collaboration at the Royal Academy of Music in 1994. Their performances and award‐winning careers highlight a naturally empathetic musical bond.
