RPO x Joe Hisaishi: Hisaishi conducts Hisaishi
London, Royal Albert Hall — Main Hall
About the Event
The legendary composer conducts his own music in London’s most famous concert hall
From delicate piano chords that rustle like grass in the wind to string melodies that soar into an endless blue sky—few pieces of music capture the imagination quite like those of Joe Hisaishi. This November, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra welcomes the renowned composer—whose film scores for Studio Ghibli films have enchanted millions of viewers worldwide—to the stage of the Royal Albert Hall, where he will conduct a selection of his own works.
Even beyond the silver screen, Joe Hisaishi’s music has been performed frequently in concert halls: from the BBC Proms to the Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul and the Vienna Musikverein. His contemporary music combines his talent for orchestration with inspirations ranging from minimalism to Romanticism and the Baroque. Look forward to something extraordinary and surprisingly inventive as we present the UK premiere of his kaleidoscopic “Concerto for Orchestra.”
To truly experience the unbridled magic of Joe Hisaishi’s music, there’s nothing better than being there live and hearing it in person.
