RPO: ’S Wonderful — Timeless Love Songs
London, Cadogan Hall — Main Hall
About the Event
From the dimly lit jazz clubs of New York to the glittering neon signs of old Hollywood, the Great American Songbook has brought some of the world’s most romantic and glamorous places to life. This Valentine’s Day, join the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on a journey back to a time when dance halls were filled with swing rhythms and love songs echoed from theaters late into the night.
Lavish orchestral arrangements meet heart‐wrenching melodies made famous by great performers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Tony Bennett, and Judy Garland, including: “So in Love,” “Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye,” “My Funny Valentine,” “The Way You Look Tonight,” “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “It Had to Be You,” “A Fine Romance,” “The Lady is a Tramp,” and many more. Outstanding soloists Sumudu Jayatilaka and Iain Mackenzie, along with the brilliant conductor Richard Balcombe, will bring the music to life.
Romantic, elegant, and filled with familiar melodies—this is the perfect occasion to spend time with the special people in your life and enjoy classic songs and music that have defined love for generations.
