About the Event

'A wondrous tone, an elegant straightforwardness, and a freshness of utterance'—such was the praise from a critic when Johan Dalene emerged victorious at the Nielsen International Violin Competition in 2019. We’re always thrilled to have this young Swedish‐Norwegian violinist return to London. This occasion showcases him performing one of the warmest and most cherished violin concertos it's the expansive, melodious heart of a concert brimming with Romanticism with a capital R. Included is a dramatic overture by the overlooked French genius Louise Farrenc. Following that, Alpesh Chauhan—a young British conductor known for his flair for grand passions—delves into a symphony that stands as both the stormiest and the most tender work Schumann ever composed.

Program

  • Johannes Brahms – Violin Concerto
  • Louise Farrenc – Overture No.2
  • Robert Schumann – Symphony No.4
