The legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti once responded to critics who claimed he performed “populist” repertoire:
“Some say the word ‘pop’ is a derogatory way of saying ‘irrelevant’—I do not accept that.
Nor do I accept that ‘classical’ means ‘boring’. There is only good music and bad music.”
These words, along with Pavarotti’s artistic philosophy—proven through his groundbreaking Pavarotti & Friends project—became the inspiration for this unique concert concept: “Tribute to Luciano Pavarotti.”
This is a candle glow concert that breaks stereotypes between classical opera and popular music, blending both worlds into one emotional and elegant experience.
During the evening, audiences will hear iconic operatic masterpieces performed by Pavarotti himself with Plácido Domingo and José Carreras, such as Libiamo ne' lieti calici, La donna è mobile, and O sole mio, alongside reimagined pop and rock classics presented in an operatic style.
Performed by a tenor from the Opera da Camera di Roma and accompanied by virtuosic piano, this concert creates a bridge between opera, pop, and rock—illuminated by the intimate glow of hundreds of candles.
