The Takeover! Ensemble performs the art of crossover between classical music and rap—with a string quintet, harpsichord, and rap pioneer Samy Deluxe!
Hip‐hop legend Samy Deluxe accepted the invitation from the Takeover! Ensemble and can be experienced live at the Gewandhaus. This ensemble masterfully performs the art of crossover: When concertmaster, rapper, and lyricist Miki Kekenj takes the stage with his chamber music ensemble Takeover! Ensemble, he is followed by fans from both the classical and pop worlds. He translates songs from pop, soul, and rap into a classical musical language. Where rhythm sections, keyboards, and guitars usually provide a dense sound, the Takeover! Ensemble uses classical instruments.
