Orchestra della Toscana – Diego Ceretta & Martina Consonni
Florence, Teatro Verdi — main
About the Event
A program featuring two classics from distinct traditions: the balanced finesse of early 19th‐century Viennese music and the dynamic structure of the French school.
Conducting will be Diego Ceretta, principal conductor of the ORT, and a key figure in a season filled with numerous engagements.
The event opens with Ludwig van Beethoven's Concerto No. 3 in C minor for piano and orchestra, op. 37, composed between 1800 and 1803. This piece marks a transitional phase from Haydn‐inspired models to the composer's own distinctive style. It brilliantly contrasts dramatic intensity with lyrical passages.
The solo piano performance is by Lombardy's Martina Consonni, an experienced pianist renowned at prestigious festivals and venues worldwide. Her interpretation is both meticulous and insightful, expertly delving into the work's structure and sound.
The program concludes with Luigi Cherubini’s Symphony in D major, composed in 1815. Unlike Rossini's lightness, it offers a robust, incisive composition that blends classical counterpoint with the dramatic flair typical of its composer.
