'Musical Wednesdays' Festival of Organ Music and Related Genres, 20th Edition, 2026
Florence, Chiesa di San Giorgio alla Costa — Main
About the Event
The 20th edition of the “Festival dei Mercoledì Musicali dell’organo e dintorni” is a celebration of ancient and modern melodies produced by the pipes of the numerous organs that have graced the city of Florence for centuries. The rich program, which will take place from April to June 2026, will extend throughout the city of Florence, with a particular focus on the Oltrarno district, and will feature renowned organists, as well as the Orchestra Toscana Classica, in a fascinating itinerary that includes eight churches in the city.
The goal of the 2026 edition of the Festival is, in fact, to introduce the public to the organs and venues of great historical and artistic value that the city of Florence preserves in considerable numbers. These include exquisite instruments located in splendid and celebrated churches, as well as equally precious instruments found in more hidden churches and oratories—places that mass tourism unjustly overlooks and where these instruments are rarely played in concert.
Program
- Georg Friedrich Händel – Concerto per organo e orchestra in Fa maggiore HWV295
