Dresdner Musikfestspiele: Young Jazz at the Tonne — Peter Somuah Group
Dresden, Jazzclub Tonne
About the Event
The young jazz trumpeter Peter Somuah, who learned to play by constantly listening to his trumpet heroes Miles Davis and Roy Hargrove, is one of the most gifted musicians on his instrument. His unique warm and melancholic sound and rhythmic versatility touch and inspire audiences around the world. In his own compositions, this musical cosmopolitan moves between different soundscapes, combining jazz, funk, and traditional music from his native Ghana, peppered with a touch of electronica, to create a unique and individual mix. In 2021, Somuah was awarded the Erasmus Jazz Award for young jazz artists, and in 2022 he won the prestigious Edison Jazz Award with his debut album Outer Space. With the legendary jazz club Tonne, the fascinating young artist has found the perfect venue for his festival debut in Dresden.
