About the Event

Martha Argerich, as the Süddeutsche Zeitung once wrote, only needs to stick her head through the door to send her fans into raptures. How much more so when this extraordinary pianist devotes herself to Schumann's Piano Concerto, a work that seems tailor‐made for her. Argerich's masterful technique and her ability to capture the soul of this composition, one of the most important in Romantic piano literature, make her performance an unforgettable experience for the audience. She is accompanied by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, which, in addition to an overture penned by its compatriot Johan Wagenaar, has another gem of Romanticism in store with Brahms' Second Symphony – his most life‐affirming work. This evening of musical excellence will be conducted by Lahav Shani, who already delighted audiences in 2025 with two concerts as conductor and pianist.
