Japanese pianist Hayato Sumino is a true multi‐talent. He thrills audiences with his virtuoso skills on the world's major concert stages, has a degree in engineering, composes, arranges, and, with 1.3 million followers under the name “Cateen,” is also a YouTube star. Over 176 million people have already clicked on his videos, allowing the experimental artist to reach an audience that otherwise has no connection to classical music. His participation in the legendary 2021 Chopin Competition received more media coverage than ever before in the history of the competition. With works by Bach and Chopin, his own compositions, and his magnificent arrangements of Gershwin's “An American in Paris” and Ravel's “Boléro” (on two pianos!), Hayato Sumino is now making his festival debut at the Stromwerk.
