Dresdner Musikfestspiele: In the footsteps of a cello virtuoso — Dotzauer evening
Dresden, Palais im Großen Garten — Main Hall
About the Event
Anyone who loves the cello cannot ignore him: Friedrich Dotzauer. Born in 1783, the cellist and composer earned a reputation as one of the best virtuosos of his time as a soloist with the legendary Dresden Court Orchestra. Concert tours took him throughout Germany and the Netherlands, and as a teacher he influenced a large number of cellists. Norbert Anger, Sebastian Fritsch, and Friedrich Thiele, the three principal cellists of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, follow in Dotzauer's footsteps and invite you to discover his oeuvre. Arrangements of popular opera melodies, duets, and solo pieces offer a melodious glimpse into the work of this great musician. And where better to enjoy this music than in the idyllic palace in the Great Garden!
