About the Event
The unique project “The Wagner Cycles” by the Dresden Music Festival shows that Richard Wagner's famous “Ring” epic can still elicit completely new listening experiences. Since 2023, in close collaboration with a renowned team of scholars, one part of the tetralogy has been worked on each year and performed in Dresden and on tour in Europe's music centers in a historically informed manner. The result has been met with enthusiasm by audiences and critics alike. The New York Times, for example, placed “Die Walküre” from the Amsterdam Concertgebouw on its list of the world's best performances in 2024. Transparent orchestral sound and the declamatory precision of the singers are also guaranteed in Götterdämmerung. For the dramatic finale, the specially founded Dresden Festival Choir will add an impressive tonal dimension to this large‐scale project.
