Pianist, entertainer, composer, Grammy winner, world record holder for the longest concert—Canadian Chilly Gonzales has long enjoyed cult status and deliberately defies any genre classification. The passionate showman loves direct communication in live concerts: “I am an entertainer. And entertainer means: no music is possible without the audience. The performance is the goal, because the audience is my favorite instrument.” Trained in classical music and jazz, the artist presents himself as eccentric and virtuosic in his stage outfit of slippers and bathrobe, approaching the music business with a refreshing dose of irreverence while celebrating music in all its diversity. His performances are sometimes playful and light, sometimes profound and powerful – but always authentically Chilly Gonzales.
