Dresdner Musikfestspiele: Countertenor meets saxophone quartet — Xavier Sabata & Kebyart
Dresden, Palais im Großen Garten — Main Hall
About the Event
The stage of the Palais im Großen Garten becomes the meeting place for a musical combination that seems unusual at first glance: a saxophone quartet meets a countertenor. But considering that the saxophone is the instrument most similar to the human voice, this combination is nothing short of ingenious. Xavier Sabata and the Kebyart ensemble are united not only by their hometown of Barcelona, but also by their passion for unusual programs. Under the title “I Am an Unusual Thing” – after Michael Nyman's composition of the same name, which deals with one of Mozart's last letters – the celebrated singer and the outstanding quartet have put together a multifaceted songbook. Works from different eras and styles, from Vivaldi to Pärt, are placed in an exciting and unusual context in this program. The audience can look forward to a very special listening experience!
