Dresdner Musikfestspiele: Bach's cello suites in a new light — Alisa Weilerstein: “Fragments”
Dresden, Deutsches Hygiene‐Museum — Main Hall
About the Event
American Alisa Weilerstein, described by the UK Telegraph as nothing less than a “phenomenon,” is one of the outstanding cellists of her generation, combining consummate artistry with emotional dedication and interpretive depth. The musician can now be experienced with her groundbreaking cross‐season solo cello project “FRAGMENTS,” with which she aims to take the concert experience into new dimensions. The project, consisting of six programs, of which Nos. 1 and 2 can be experienced in Dresden, combines the 36 movements of Bach's cello suites with 27 new commissioned compositions by leading composers of our time in a multisensory production. The result is a total work of art that creates breathtaking connections in combination with visual elements.
