About the Event
Technical perfection, clear tone, and a passion for the essence of music are among Jean‐Guihen Queyras' trademarks. The versatile cellist presents a facet of his instrument that is rarely heard: jazz. “Invisible Stream” outlines what connects people and music beyond stylistic and aesthetic‐cultural boundaries. Under this title, the Canadian‐born Frenchman, together with his three fellow musicians, all of whom are among the most important representatives of classical music and jazz, creates a musical celebration in which improvisations give rise to a dialogue between the music of Raphaël Imbert and works by Franz Schubert, Richard Wagner, and Ornette Coleman. The perfect venue for this musical adventure is the St. Pauli church ruins in Dresden's Hechtviertel district, which were renovated in 2011/12 and fitted with a glass roof, and have quickly become one of Dresden's most exciting venues – urban, atmospheric, unique.
