Dresden Zwinger
The Dresden Zwinger Palace is considered as one of the most famous monuments of Baroque period. It was built between 1710-1728 by Matthäus Daniel Poeppelmann and is regarded next to the Frauenkirche and the Semper Opera Dresden, as the the most important historical monument of Dresden. In the last months of World War II, the Zwinger was heavily damaged by Allied air raids, and was rebuilt in the 1950s and 1960s. Originally planned as an orangery and garden the Dresden Zwinger hosts nowadays many concert and theatre events.
