Revolutionary Czechoslovakia: Signature Series
About the Event
The Chicago Chamber Musicians present powerful works from revolutionary Czechoslovakia by the composers Fibich, Janacek and Dvorak in this Signature Series concert.
Political unrest and revolution were at the helm of 19th century Czechoslovakia. The indomitable spirit of the Czech people shines through in the music on this program. Zdenek Fibich’s charming Quintet in D Major is a challenging work that showcases the virtuosity of CCM’s artists. Leoš Janacek’s Pohádka or “Fairy Tale” for cello and piano was written at the rise of Czech nationalism. Each lilting theme in Dvorak’s String Sextet pulses with Slavonic blood.
The Chicago Chamber Musicians open the door to a musical journey around the world through concerts dedicated to composers from Italy, Russia, France, Austria and more. Each concert will give a taste of the culture and historical influences of its country, and CCM are eager to surprise and delight you through dynamic and creative performances. Tour the world with the Chicago Chamber Musicians in this season's Signature Series!
