About the Event
In the winter of 1816–17, Vienna was swept up in a veritable “Rossini craze.” The music of the young Rossini dominated concert programs, and audiences were captivated by his Italian flair. The 20‐year‐old Franz Schubert was among his admirers. Inspired by Rossini, he composed his “Italian Overture” in 1817 . The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, conducted by Paavo Järvi, continues its exploration of Schubert’s early work with the Second Symphony. Renowned cellist Truls Mørk concludes the program with Robert Schumann’s idiosyncratic Cello Concerto, a work brimming with intense lyricism and emotional depth.
