About the Event

A debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra: things are moving at a rapid pace for British cellist Sheku Kanneh‐Mason. Following his recital with his sister Isata a few years ago, which was particularly well‐received, he now performs alongside his compatriot, pianist Benjamin Grosvenor, as his musical partner. The program features Beethoven’s lyrical Sonata No. 2 for Cello and Piano as well as Rachmaninoff’s lively Cello Sonata. Although Nadia Boulanger owes her reputation primarily to her work as a teacher and conductor, her “Three Impressionist Pieces” for cello and piano prove that she fully deserves to be regarded as a composer, just like her sister Lili.
