About the Event
Frédéric Chopin’s most influential works are arguably the 21 Nocturnes he composed between 1827 and 1846. Chopin took this genre, introduced by the Irish composer John Field, to unprecedented heights. In these contemplative piano pieces, inspired by the nocturnal poetry of Novalis and Tieck, Chopin explores the night without words. Beneath a gently flowing melody in the right hand, the left hand unfolds a sophisticated and technically demanding accompaniment. With his delicate touch and subtle musicality, our featured artist Pavel Kolesnikov draws the night from the piano like no other pianist.
