Orchestre National de Lyon, Szeps‐Znaider & Fischer

About the Event

Experience the sublime harmonies of classical music masters Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Anton Bruckner at the esteemed Palais des Beaux‐Arts in Brussels. The revered Belgian National Orchestra welcomes the Orchestre National de Lyon for a spectacular exchange concert.

Under the direction of chief conductor Nikolaj Szeps‐Znaider, the Orchestre National de Lyon will enchant audiences with Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto and Bruckner's Seventh Symphony. The Symphony’s adagio, an evocative tribute to Richard Wagner featuring violas and Wagner tubas, encapsulates the somber mood of Wagner’s ailing days, until his demise mid‐composition. It’s suggested that the selective use of cymbals and triangle in this sector commemorates the moment Bruckner was informed of Wagner’s death. Bruckner's Seventh Symphony debuted in December 1884, securing his first significant professional acclaim.
