About the Event
Experience the sublime beauty of classical music at the renowned Palais des Beaux‐Arts in Brussels, featuring compositions by Jean Sibelius, Maurice Ravel, Saint‐Saëns Camille, and Barbara Assiginaak. Ravel's contemplation of a tribute to the Viennese waltz, a project considered for two decades, reflects a post‐World War I atmosphere, transforming the initially lighthearted homage into an intense musical exploration that asks, 'What now?' Similarly transformative is the 2021 piece by Canadian composer Barbara Assiginaak, Eko‐Bmijwang, which mimics the flow of a river, amplified or diminished by natural forces. The evening rounds out with Saint‐Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2, performed by pianist Alexandre Kantorow, and Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2. Under the baton of Yannick Nézet‐Séguin and the Montreal Metropolitan, this concert promises a truly exquisite experience.
