Freiburg Baroque Orchestra & Jeanine De Bique
Brussels, Palais des Beaux‐Arts — Henry le Boeuf Hall
About the Event
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed his last three symphonies in 1788 in a tremendous surge of creative energy. The foaming crests of this wave are not only an expression of his talent, but also of the history of symphonic music up to that point. Sadness and sensuality are interwoven in Symphony No. 40—in the dramatic key of G minor—while the main key of C major foreshadows the epic character of Symphony No. 41. The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, which specializes in the authentic performance of 18th‐century music, will certainly rise to this challenge. The soprano Jeanine De Bique will accompany them with a selection of arias from Mozart’s timeless operas, a repertoire that holds few secrets for the Trinidadian singer.
