B’Rock & René Jacobs
Brussels, Palais des Beaux‐Arts — Henry le Boeuf Hall
About the Event
You may remember Antonio Salieri from the film *Amadeus* as the man accused of poisoning Mozart. As historical research has shown, this is absolutely unthinkable. In reality, Mozart and Salieri held each other in high regard. After this concert, his name will be associated above all with the playful opera “Falstaff, ossia Le tre burle” from 1799, in which Shakespeare’s antihero woos two married women who respond with witty and clever retorts. B’Rock, the Choeur de Chambre de Namur, and an extensive cast of soloists, including Croatian bass‐baritone Krešimir Stražanac in the title role, bring color to this musical drama full of humor, arrogance, and Mozartian counterpoint. Conductor René Jacobs leads the restoration of Salieri’s honor.
