About the Event

The season opens with a work brimming with imagination: “Aeriality” by Anna Thorvaldsdottir, our new resident composer. Music that floats, glides, and creates space for silence and reflection. In Schumann’s Piano Concerto, the soloist does not compete with the orchestra but joins it at the heart of the musical dialogue. Anna Vinnitskaya, winner of the 2007 Queen Elisabeth Competition, brings this intimate dialogue to life with clarity and a natural, captivating power. Following this captivating opening, Gustav Mahler unfolds his First Symphony, “Titan”—a work in which nature awakens, irony breaks through the surface, and visionary energy gradually rises. Conductor Matthew Halls leads an unbridled season opener: rousing, monumental, and full of promise.
