About the Event
You can never get enough of Beethoven. In his Violin Concerto, he strikes a heroic note: expansive in scope, open‐minded in spirit, and driven by a deeply human idealism. Yet amid these bold gestures lies a moment of complete stillness. The second movement unfolds like an elegy of rare beauty—intimate, comforting, and infinitely lyrical. Daniel Lozakovich lets the violin speak with a natural intensity that never feels forced: clear in tone, warm at its core. It is no coincidence that soloists describe this concerto as a work to which they wish to return again and again. This music seems to transport one to another world. Mendelssohn, on the other hand, embarks on a journey that leads northward. His Third Symphony, the “Scottish,” was inspired by impressions of mist‐shrouded landscapes, ancient ruins, and rugged coastlines. The four movements flow seamlessly into one another, forming a continuous path through a world of sound in which melancholy, memory, and dancing energy intertwine. Under the baton of Eivind Aadland, Beethoven’s concerto and Mendelssohn’s symphony become not mere illustrations, but lived and vividly told musical stories.
