Bologna Festival: Utopia Orchestra & Teodor Currentzis
Bologna, Auditorium Manzoni — Main Hall
About the Event
The Currentzis myth was forged at the foot of the Urals, where MusicAeterna took its first steps in 2004. Hand‐picked one by one, the musicians fused into an artistic community instantly recognisable for the vibrant electricity of its sound. That utopian vision has, ipso facto, generated a new creature: Utopia—an innovative global orchestra founded in 2022—making its Bologna debut as it welcomes back its demiurge and the great Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang. The programme distils the Viennese soul between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries: the tragic irony of Mahler’s “Titan” and the elegiac Violin Concerto “To the Memory of an Angel”, Alban Berg’s final tribute to Manon, the daughter of Walter Gropius and Alma Mahler.
